Summer Hygiene

The coming of summer means more sanitation problems. In summertime, humidity rises and plants grow prosperously, which provides a favorable environment for bacteria. The existence of disease bacteria jeopardizes that of other creatures, especially humans. At this time, therefore, diseases of all types begin to attack more rampantly. It is not easy to spend a pleasant and hygienic summer in hot and humid places like Taiwan. Summertime can be an enjoyable season if we are healthy. Unfortunately, however, unlike bacteria, human beings tend to become weaker in high temperature. Residents on this island are exposed to a lot of diseases present exclusively in summer. Cases of dengue fever, malaria, and amoebic dysentery have frequently been reported in this country. To protect ourselves, we ought to form some personal sanitation habits, such as always washing hands with soap before meals, never eating raw food, and constantly keeping the surrounding clean. Only by so doing can we minimize possible suffering.
